I acknowledge that the United States of America is a federal constitutional republic in which
- government is of the people, by the people, and for the people;
- leaders are chosen in free, fair, and regularly scheduled elections;
- states may extend participatory democracy to citizens; and,
- everyone is subject to, and no one is above the law.
I affirm the constitutional rights of Americans to
- voice opinions and beliefs without fear of retribution;
- peacefully assemble and protest without fear of punishment;
- petition the government without fear of reprisal;
- practice religion without government interference or favoritism;
- keep and bear arms;
- due process and equal justice under the law;
- representation and witnesses in criminal proceedings;
- fair, speedy, and public trials by impartial juries of peers; and
- be free from:
- self-incrimination;
- double jeopardy;
- unreasonable searches and seizures;
- excessive bail amounts and fines;
- cruel and unusual punishments; and
- the taking of personal property without just compensation.
I recognize that fascism, communism, theocracy, oligarchy, dictatorship, and authoritarianism in all of its forms are incompatible with the U.S. Constitution and America’s foundational principles.
As an American for freedom and justice for all, I commit to
- honoring the service and sacrifice of America’s service members, veterans, and their families;
- practicing civility and refraining from the using of extreme rhetoric that denigrates and dehumanizes neighbors and strangers alike;
- seeking out information from reputable sources, and not knowingly disseminating misinformation.
